CONFUSING RULES
The Short Pass rule can be a confusing one.
Every pass must be legally contestable, so there needs to be sufficient space for an opposing player to deflect or intercept the ball.
The passing distance is determined by the controlling umpire and can apply to throw-ins off the goalpost.
Also, it is not considered a short pass if two players from the same team touch the ball at the same time, unless the ball changes from one player to another in that moment.
